Ingredients

  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup applesauce
  • 1/2 cup margarine, room temperature
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp allspice
  • 1/2 tsp nutmeg
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp cloves
  • 3 tbsp cocoa, unsweetened
  • 1 cup raisins and chopped nuts

Step 1

Preheat oven to 350°

In a bowl, mix flour, baking soda, baking powder, and the spices; set aside.

Cream together margarine and sugar until fluffy; add egg. Stir in flour mixture until well blended. Then stir in raisins and nuts.

Bake in well greased loaf pan for 60-70 minutes or until toothpick inserted into center of bread comes out clean.

Remove from oven and let set on a wire rack for 10 minutes. Then remove from pan to wire rack and let cool completely.
