Ingredients

  • 2-1/4

    cups of flour

  • 1

    teaspoon baking soda

  • 1

    teaspoon salt

  • 1

    cup softened shortening (like crisco)

  • 1

    cup of granulated sugar

  • 1/2

    cup brown sugar packed

  • 1

    teaspoon vanilla

  • 1/2

    teaspoon water

  • 2

    eggs

  • 12

    oz simi-sweet chocolate bits

  • 1

    cup coursly chopped nuts (optional)

Directions

Do all this by hand. Do not use electric mixer (puts to much air in cookies Preheat oven to 375°F place rack in middle. Sift together flour, baking soda, and salt and set aside. Combine softened shorting, granulated sugar, brown sugar, vanilla, and water. Beat until creamy. Add in eggs and mix well. Then add in flour mixture, and mix well. Add in chocolate bits and (nuts-optional) and mix well. Spoon about a tablespoon of cookie dough per cookie on a greesed cookie sheet ( I used pam spray). Bake 10-12 minutes, remove from oven and let sit 2 minutes, then transfer cookies on wire rack to cool.
