Crock Pot Beans with Ground Turkey

No need to drain the Sweet Heat Beans (red beans in a sweet and spicy sauce, accented with tomatoes, brown sugar, onion and serrano peppers). You can also substitute the Sweet Heat with other beans, just add your own spices!

Crock Pot Beans with Ground Turkey 1 Picture

Ingredients

  • 1 lb. ground turkey
  • 1 Tbsp. oil
  • 1 large onion, diced
  • 2 tsp. cumin
  • Salt and pepper
  • 1 large pepper (red, yellow, or orange), diced
  • 2 cans (22 oz) Bush’s Beans Sweet Heat
  • 1 (15 oz) can Bush’s Black Beans, drained
  • 1 (15 oz) can Bush’s Kidney Beans, drained
  • 1 (15 oz) can Bush’s Pinto Beans

Preparation

Step 1

In a large frying pan, heat the oil on medium high. Cook the diced onion for 2 minutes, adding in the pepper. Cook for additional 3-4 minutes. Add the ground turkey and cook until browned (no longer pink); salt and pepper to taste. Add the cumin.

Spray the inside of the crock pot with cooking spray. Add the meat mixture, the Sweet Heat beans (do not drain), plus drained beans. Cook on LO for 6-8 hours, or on HI for 4-5 hours.
