Ingredients

  • Chocolate Glaze:
  • 1 1/4 c. flour
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1/2 c. unsweetened cocoa
  • 1/4 c. cornstarch
  • 1/2 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 4 egg whites
  • 1 c. water
  • 1/2 c. Karo syrup
  • 1 c. powdered sugar, sifted
  • 2 Tb. cold nonfat milk
  • 1 tsp. unsweetened cocoa powder, (Ghiradelli and Droste good)

Preparation

Step 1

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Spray 9" square baking pan with cooking spray. In large bowl, combine dry ingredients until well mixed. In medium bowl, whisk egg whites, water and corn syrup. Stir into dry ingredients until smooth. Pour into prepared pan. Bake 30 minutes or until cake springs back when lightly touched. Cool on wire rack 10 minutes.

Each serving=130 calories


For Glaze: In a small bowl, combine powdered sugar and milk. Stir til smooth. Add cocoa powder and stir til smooth. Note: The best way to glaze a cake is to spread the frosting over the top and allow it to drizzle doen the sides.
