Slow Cooker Split Pea Soup

MY NOTES: Made 11/14/04 - Very good!
Made again 12/08/07. Still tasted good but was much thinner than I remembered. Thickened with a little flour and water. Next time I might try reducing the water to 8 cups.

Ingredients
- 1 lb dried split peas
- 10 cups water
- 1 lb smoked sausage of your choice, sliced
- 5 cubes chicken bouillon
- 1 1/2 cups chopped carrot
- 1 cup chopped celery
- 2 potatoes, peeled and chopped
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp dried oregano
- 2 bay leaves
- 1 onion, chopped

Preparation
Step 1
In a 5 quart slow cooker; combine all of the ingredients.
Cover and cook on High 4-5 hours. Remove bay leaves before serving.
If you do not have a slow cooker, combine all ingredients in a large pot. Simmer over low heat for 2-3 hours, stirring often.
