Preparation

Step 1

HAT
Leaving a long yarn tail, ch 61.
Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across – you will have 60 sc at the end of this row.
Row 2: Ch 1, turn, sc in each st across.
Repeat Row 2 until piece measures about 10 1/2 in. (26.5 cm) from beg.
Fasten off, leaving a long yarn tail.

FINISHING
Thread cast-on tail into blunt needle and sew side edges of piece together to make a tube.
Thread yarn tail from bound-off edge into blunt needle, then sew in and out through sts of last row. Pull to gather top of hat and knot securely.
Weave in ends.
