Ingredients

  • 6 oz Spaghetti
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter (1/2 stick)
  • 1 1/4 lbs. ground beef, ground turkey and/or Italian sausage (mixture) 1/2 cup chopped onion
  • 1 15oz can tomato sauce
  • 1 6oz can tomato paste
  • 2 teaspoons Italian seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese (4oz)

Step 1

In large saucepan, cook spaghetti until tender, then drain. Return spaghetti to saucepan and stir in eggs, Parmigiani-Reggiano cheese and butter. With 2 knives used scissors-fashion, chop spaghetti.
Lightly butter or coat with cooking spray a 9 1/2 inch deep-dish glass pie plate. Add spaghetti and press in bottom and up sides of pie plate to form a crust. Set aside to cool.
Preheat oven to 350°F. In large skillet over medium-high heat, cook ground meat and onion until browned, breaking up meat with spoon. Drain off fat. Stir in Tomato sauce and paste, Italian seasoning, sugar and salt and pepper to taste. Cook 2 minutes or until heated through.
Spread the sour cream in bottom of crust. Top with meat sauce mixture and sprinkle with mozzarella. Bake pie for 30 minutes. Remove from oven and let stand for 10 minutes. Cut into pie wedges to serve.
