Ingredients

  • Ganache:
  • 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1/3 cup water
  • 1 3/4 cups granulated sugar - divided
  • 2 bars (2oz. each) Nestle Toll House Unsweetened Chocolate Baking Bars, broken inot pieces
  • 2/3 cup butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 3 large eggs
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 6 oz. bittersweet chocolate, chopped fine (1 cup)

  • Bring the cream to a full boil, transfer it to a bowl, and cool for a minute. Pour the chocolate onto the hot cream and mix with a rubber spatula until the chocolate is melted. The ganache will thicke

Preparation

Step 1

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

1. Combine flour, baking soda and salt in small bowl.
2. Combine water, 1/2 cup sugar and baking bars in small saucepan. Cook over low heat,stirring constantly, until chocolate is melted and smooth. Remove from heat.
3. Beat remaining sugar, butter and vanilla extract in large mixing bowl until creamy. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Beat in chocolate mixture. Gradually add flour mixture alternately with milk. Pour into two greased and floured 9: round baking pans. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until wooden pick insterted in center comes out clean. Cool in pan for 10 minutes. Invert onto wire racks to cool completely.

Gananche:
1. Bring the cream to a full boil, transfer it to a bowl, and cool for a minute.
2. Pour the chocolate onto the hot cream and mix with a rubber spatula until the chocolate is melted. The ganache will thicken to a spreading consistency as it cools.
3. Pour a thin layer of ganache on top of bottom layer of cake. Place top layer on top, and slowly pour remaining ganache over top.
