Ingredients

  • 1 C Chopped Dates
  • 1 C Boiling Water
  • 1/2 C Butter
  • 1 tsp Soda
  • 1 3/4 C Flour
  • 1 C Sugar
  • 1 /2 tsp Salt
  • 1 Egg
  • 1/2 tsp Nutmeg
  • 1 tsp Cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp Cloves
  • 1/2 C chopped Nuts

Step 1

Place dates in a pyrex bowl. Add boiling water, butter and soda. Let stand until melted and room temperature. Add sugar and egg and beat until creamy. Stir in flour and remaining spices. Stir in nuts. Line loaf pan with parchment paper. Pour batter into lined loaf pan. Bake 350 degrees 55-60 minutes. Remove from oven and let rest 10 minutes. Remove from pan. Refrigerate after cooled completely.
