Navy Bean and Ham Soup

  • 1 ea Meaty ham bone
  • 1 lb Navy Beans
  • 8 cups Water
  • ¼ cup Onion, chopped
  • ½ cup Celery, chopped
  • 1 ea Bay leaf
  • 2 ea Large carrots, chopped
  • ¼ tsp Salt
  • ½ tsp Pepper


Servings 1


Step 1

Bring water and beans to a boil and boil for 2 minutes. Remove from heat and cover and let stand for 1 hour.

Stir in ham bone, and all other ingredients. Bring to a boil and then reduce heat, cover and simmer until beans are tender (skim foam from top), about 1½ to 2 hours

Remove ham bone and cut meat off and return to soup. Serve.
