Ingredients

  • Turnover:
  • 2 1/2 c peeled, cored, and chopped tart apples, (about 3 apples)
  • 3/4 c. fresh cranberries
  • 1 c. granulated sugar
  • 1/4 c. chopped walnuts
  • 2 Tb. all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp. ground nutmeg
  • 2 sheets frozen puff pastry dough, thawed according to pkg. directions
  • Glaze:
  • 1/2 c. sifted powdered sugar
  • 2 tsp. milk

Step 1

For turnovers, combine apples, cranberries, sugar, walnuts, flour, cinnamon, and nutmeg in a large saucepan. Stirring occasionally, bring to a boil over medium heat. Reduce heat, cover, and simmer about 5 minutes or until apples are tender. Remove from heat.

Preheat oven to 400 degrees. On a lightly floured surface, cut each sheet of pastry into fourths. Spoon about 1/4 cup apple mixture into center of each pastry square. Fold dough in half diagonally over filling to form a triangle; use a fork to crimp edges together. Place on a greased baking sheet. Bake 16-18 minutes or until golden brown.

For Glaze: Combine sugar and milk in a small bowl; stir until smooth. Drizzle glaze over warm turnovers. Serve warm or at room temperature.
