Ingredients

  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 2 tsp. finely chopped fresh ginger
  • 2 tsp. grated orange peel
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1/8 tsp. ground cloves
  • 1 (12 oz.) bag fresh cranberries

Preparation

Step 1

1. In a medium saucepan, combine 1 cup water with the sugar, cinnamon stick, chopped ginger, orange peel, salt and cloves. Place over medium heat and cook, stirring constantly, until the sugar is dissolved. Stir in the cranberries and bring the liquid to a boil, then lower the heat and simmer, stirring, until slightly thickened, about 8 minutes.

2. Transfer the cranberry sauce to a bowl and discard the cinnamon stick. Let cool.
