Ingredients
- 2 1/2 lbs. boneless beef chuck, coarse ground
- 2 cups onions, ground with meat
- 8 cups potatoes, diced
- 4 tsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp. pepper
- PASTY CRUST: makes 6 9" circles
- 3 cups flour
- 1 cup solid vegetabel shortening
- 1 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 egg
- 1 tbsp. vinegar
- 6 tbsp. water

Step 1
Meat mixture (makes 12 pasties). Grind meat and onion together using coarse blade on meat grinder. Let stand to marinate while you prepare the potatoes. Add diced potatoes, salt, and pepper. Cover and refrigerate while you make the crust.
MA's PASTY CRUST: makes 6 9" circles
Mix dry ingredients together. Cut in shortening. Mix egg with vinegar and water. Stir with fork. Roll into 9" circle. Place 1 cup meat mixture on one half of crust. Brush edge with milk, fold over and press edges together, brush edge with milk, fold edge up and press again. Brush top with milk and make 3 slits on top. Place on cookie sheets.
Bake at 425 degrees for 30 minutes, reduce heat to 375 degrees for 20 minutes.
