Ingredients

  • 6 T. butter
  • 1 3/4 c. sugar, divided
  • 1 c. self-rising flour
  • 5 1/2 T. unsweetened cocoa powder, divided
  • 1/2 c. whole milk
  • 1 t. vanilla extract
  • 1/2 c. chopped pecans
  • 1/2 c. toffee bits
  • 1 1/2 c. boiling water
  • Garnish: vanilla ice cream, chopped pecans.

Preparation

Step 1

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Place butter in an 8x8 inch baking dish. Place in oven for 5-10 mintes, or until butter is melted. Remove from oven; set aside.

In a medium bowl, combine 3/4 c. sugar,flour, and 1 1/2 T cocoa. Add milk and vanilla, whisking until smooth. Pour over melted butter.

In a separate medium bowl, combine remaining 1 cup sugar, remaining 4 T. cocoa, pecans and toffee bits; sprinkle evenly over sugar mixture. Slowly pour boiling water over top of cobbler.

Bake for 30-40 muniutes, or until top of cobler looks set. Serve warm with ice cream and pecans, if desired.
