Preparation
Step 1
Mix the ammonia and water.
Soak only gold or diamond jewelry in this solution for a few minutes. Gently brush away the dirt with an old, soft bristled toothbrush. Rinse in warm water, making sure the drain is closed, or put jewelry in a strainer.
Dip diamonds in rubbing alcohol to make them sparkle.
Save any remaining solution to clean other jewelry in a container with a lid. Leftover clean can be used until it begins to look dirty and/or cloudy. Then, use it to clean a sink!
Note: Do not just this on jade, opal, pearl, turquoise, coral, malachite, amber, lapis lazuli or any other soft or porous stone.
