Ingredients
- 5 Tbsp unsalted butter
- 1/2 cup all purpose flour
- 4 cups warm whole milk
- 1/2 tsp salt, plus more to taste
- Pinch of freshly ground white pepper
- Pinch of freshly grated nutmeg

Preparation
Step 1
In a 2 qt saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Add flour and whisk until smooth, about 2 min. Gradually add warm milk, whisking constantly, until sauce is thick and smooth and creamy, about 10 min. (don't allow sauce to boil) Remove from heat and stir in salt, white pepper and nutmeg. Season with more to taste.
