Crisps are an easier alternative to a pie or cobbler (no pastry crust to prepare!), but just as delicious. The little black dress of the pantry, cornflakes stand in for oats in this fun variation.

Apple-Pear Crisp 1 Picture

Ingredients

  • 3 pounds apples and pears, peeled and cut into 1/2-inch chunks
  • 1/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/3 cup packed brown sugar, for topping
  • 1 teaspoon apple pie spice, divided
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 3 1/2 cups cornflakes
  • 5 tablespoons butter

Preparation

Step 1

Preheat oven to 400 F. In buttered 13-by-9-inch baking dish, toss apple and pear chunks, 1/4 cup brown sugar, 1/2 tsp apple pie spice, and salt.

In bowl, crush cornflakes with butter, 1/3 cup brown sugar, and 1/2 tsp apple pie spice until blended. Sprinkle over fruit.

Bake 30 to 35 minutes or until golden brown.
