Ingredients
- Cut a strip of parchment paper 8" wide x 16" long. Lay it in the pan so bottom is covered and the strip sticks out in "ears" on the long side of pan. Spray paper with Pam.
- 1 stick butter
- 1 1/4 C sugar
- 1 egg
- 1/2 t baking powder
- 1 1/2 t almond extract
- 2/3 C cream
- 1 1/4 C flour
- 1/4 C sliced almonds

Step 1
Sprinkle a few almonds in the bottom of the pan. It becomes an upside down cake.
Melt butter. Strain through cheese cloth and throw away. Cool. Mix sugar with egg. Beat til fluffy. Add baking powder and almond extract. Add cooled butter. Add half of the cream and half of the flour. Mix and add the rest.
Pour into 4 x 8 loaf pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 50-60 minutes. Let cool in pan for 15 minutes. Loosen with spatula on short sides. Turn onto platter and dust with powdered sugar.
