Laura's Sugar Cookies

Ingredients

• 1 cup butter
• 1 cup sugar
• 2 eggs
• 1 teaspoon vanilla
• 3 cups flour
• 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
• 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
• 1/4 teaspoon salt

Preparation

Step 1

Cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time and beat well after each addition. Blend in vanilla. Sift dry together and add to butter mixture and blend well. Roll dough out on a floured surface and cut with cookies cutters. Place 2 inches apart on greased cookie sheets. Bake at 350° for 10-12 minutes. Cool on racks (I don't have a rack so take them off the pan and place on wax paper). Makes 6 dozen

Frosting: I mix powdered sugar, milk and food coloring to desired color and consistency. Sometimes I will add a little bit of margarine and you can add flavored extract if you want to add flavor to the frosting.
