Ingredients

  • 1 package dry yeast
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1/4 cup lukewarm water
  • 1 cup milk, heated
  • 4 cups flour, sifted

Preparation

Step 1

Sprinkle yeast and sugar into 1/4 cup warm water. Let proof for 5 minutes.
Sift 4 cups flour into large mixing bowl. Gradually pour in the yeast mixture and milk, stirring until firm dough is formed.
Place dough on a lightly floured board and knead about 5 minutes. Place dough in large buttered bowl, and cover with a lightly dampened towel.
Let rise until doubled in bulk, 1 1/2 to 2 hours. Punch down and let rise for another 30 minutes until doubled again in volume. Turn dough onto floured board and knead as above for 5 minutes until smooth and elastic. It is now ready to be made into flower rolls or filled for steamed buns.

Roast Pork filling:
2 tablespoon oil
1 pound cooked roast pork, shredded
1 teaspoon sugar
2 tablespoon soy sauce
2 tablespoon cornstarch dissolved in
3 tablespoon chicken broth or cold water
