Ingredients

  • Pear Mixture:
  • 1/4 cup of butter
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 4 pears peeled and sliced
  • Cake:
  • 1/4 cup soft butter
  • 1/2 cup of brown sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup apple sauce unsweetened
  • 1/2 cup of molasse
  • 1 1/2 cups of flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp bicarbonate de soude
  • 2 tsps powdered ginger
  • 1 tsp nutmeg
  • 1/2 tsp clou de girofle
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • Caramel:
  • 1/4 lb butter
  • 1 1/2 cups of brown sugar
  • 2 cups sirop de mais
  • 1 can of carnation milk
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 tsp vanilla

Preparation

Step 1

Preheat the over at 350.
Butter a round mold (1,5 litre).
Mix melted butter and brown sugar.
Spread this mixture in the mold and place pieces of pears to cover.
Reserve.
Mix butter and brown sugar.
Add eggs and mix well.
Incorporate apple sauce and molasse and beat well.
Mix flour with all other spices and baking powder and bicarbonate.
Incorporate to the molasse mixture a little at a time.
Pour over the pears.
Bake 60 minutes and cool for 10 minutes.
Unmold and serve with lukewarm caramel.
During the baking, prepare the caramel by melting the butter and the brown sugar,
Add the sirop de mais and mijoter 5-10 minutes without boiling.
Retreat and slowly incorporate the carnation milk and water stirring.
Add vanilla.
Keep refrigerate
