Ingredients

  • 3/4 lb soy protein
  • 1/2 cup yellow onion, chopped
  • 1/3 cup scallions, chopped
  • 2 1/2 tbsp minced fresh ginger
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced and crushed into a paste
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 6 tbsp water
  • Salt and ground pepper
  • 1 package of dumpling wrappers

Preparation

Step 1

In a large mixing bowl, combine the soy protein crumbles, onion, scallions, ginger, and garlic.
Mix well using a large spatula or your hands.
Add the salt, pepper, olive oil, and water.
Continue mixing for a little bit.
Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and let it sit for at least 30 minutes. (If you like, you can prepared the filling ahead of time and leave it in the refrigerator. When you are ready to make the dumplings, take them out and let them go to room temperature before wrapping.)
Shape the dumplings. One way is to fold the wrapper in half and make a series of pleats from one side to the other.
The dumplings can be boiled, steamed, or pan fried.
Serve with your favorite dipping sauce.
