Ingredients
- 1 1/2 pounds 95% lean ground beef
- 1/2 cup chopped onion
- 2 cloves garlic, pressed
- 1/2 cup tomato sauce
- 3 tablespoons ketchup
- 1/2 cup chopped green bell pepper
- 1/2 cup chopped celery
- 3 tablespoons water
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons mustard
- 2 tablespoons vinegar
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 1/2 teaspoons chili powder
- 6 whole wheat burger buns, lightly toasted

Preparation
Step 1
In a skillet, brown ground beef, onion and garlic. Using paper towels, blot off excess grease, if needed. Meanwhile, place remaining ingredients in a slow cooker; blend well; add meat mixture and stir again. Cook on LOW for 6 to 8 hours or on HIGH for 3 to 4 hours. Serve meat mixture in burger buns.
SERVING SUGGESTION: Corn on the cob and a big salad.
VEGETARIAN: Use TVP crumbles and use vegetarian Worcestershire sauce.
KOSHER: Make sure beef is certified kosher. Use vegetarian Worcestershire sauce.
GLUTEN FREE: Make sure tomato sauce, mustard, Worcestershire sauce and hamburger buns are gluten free.
