Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 lb boneless skinless chicken breasts
  • 6 tbsp tikka paste
  • 1/2 cup natural Greek yogurt
  • 1 tbsp oil
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 clove garlic, crushed
  • 1 fresh green chili, seeded and chopped
  • 1 inch piece fresh ginger root, grated
  • 1 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 cup water
  • little melted ghee or butter
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • fresh coriander leaves, yogurt, and toasted cumin seeds to garnish
  • nann bread to serve

Preparation

Step 1

1. Cut chicken into 1 inch cubes. Mix half the tikka paste and half the yogurt and marinate chicken for 20 minutes.

2. Heast oil in heavy plan and fry onion, garlic, chili and ginger for 5 minutes. Add remaining tikka paste and yogurt and fry 2 minutes. Stir in tomato paste and water, bring to boil and simmer 15 minutes.

3. Meanwhile, thread chicken on skewwers and preheat grill or broiler.

4. Brush chicken pieces with melted ghee or butter and cook under medium heat for 15 minutes, turning occasionally.

5. Put tikka sauce in food processor and process until smooth. Return to pan.

6. Add remaining yogurt and lemon juice, add chicken to pan. Simmer 5 minutes.
