Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 C melted butter
  • 2 C cocoa (unsweetened)
  • 2 C brown sugar
  • 3 large beaten eggs
  • 4 t baking soda
  • 1 t salt
  • 2 t vanilla
  • 3 C flour
  • 1/2 sugar - for later

Preparation

Step 1

Mix cocoa in melted butter until thoroughly blended. Add brown sugar. Let cool, then add eggs. Add baking soda, salt, and vanilla and stir. Add flour and mix thoroughly. Chill dough for 1 hour or overnight.

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Roll dough into walnut sized balls. Put bowl back into refrigerator. Roll balls in sugar. Place on greased cookie sheet. Flatten slightly.

Bake for 10 minutes. Cool on cookie sheet for a minute or two.
