Ingredients
- glaze:
- 3 1/2 cups flour
- 1 cup whole wheat flour
- 1 cup quick oats
- 2 tbsp baking powder
- 2 tbsp sugar
- 2 tsp salt
- 1 lb cold butter, diced
- 1/2 cup cold buttermilk
- 1/2 cup maple syrup
- 5 eggs, beaten
- 1 egg plus 1 tbsp milk, beaten
- 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
- 1/2 cup maple syrup
- 1 tsp vanilla

Step 1
Preheat oven to 400. In a mixer, combine flours, oats, baking powder, sugar, and slat. Blend in the butter on low until just combined. Combine buttermilk, maple syrup, and eggs, then add to flour mix. Mix until just blended. Dough will be sticky.
Dump dough onto floured surface, and roll with floured rolling pin to 1 inch thick. Cut into 3 inch rounds with a cutter and place on parchment lined baking sheet.
Brush tops with egg wash, bake for 20-25 minutes until tops are crisp.
Make glaze: Combine powdered sugar, maple syrup and vanilla. Let scones cool for 5 minutes, then drizzle 1 tbsp glaze on each.
