Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef, cooked and drained
- 1 cup onion, chopped
- 4 cups water
- 1 cup carrots, diced
- 1 cup celery, diced
- 1 cup potatoes, peeled and cubed
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 1 teaspoon soy sauce
- 1/4 teaspoon pepper
- 1 bay leaf
- 1/8 teaspoon basil, dried
- 6 tomatoes, chopped or 1- 128 oz. can chopped tomatoes with liquid

Preparation
Step 1
In a large sauce pan, brown ground beef and drain. Cook and stir onions with the meat until onions are tender, about 5 minutes. Stir in remaining ingredients, except tomatoes. Heat to boiling. Reduce temperature, cover and simmer for 20 minutes. Add tomatoes, cover and simmer an additional 10 minutes longer or until vegetables are tender.
