Ingredients

  • 1 1/4 cups white sugar
  • 2 cups rolled oats
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 cups bran flakes
  • 1 1/4 cups shortening
  • (1/2 tsp baking soda, 1/2 cup boiling water ) mix water and baking soda together and set aside to cool.

Step 1

Mix all the dry ingredients together, and cut in the shortening, add water and baking soda and mix well. Mixture will be sticky, keep your counter and rolling pin well floured. Roll out thin, and cut in squares. Bake in 350 oven, for 8 or 9 min depending on your oven. I always use parchment paper on my pans. The single recipe will give you about 100.
