Ingredients

  • sauce:
  • 1 1/2 lb ground beef
  • 1/2 c onion,chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 1 tbs salt
  • 1/4 tsp fennel
  • 2 tbs sugar
  • 1 1/2 tsp dried basil
  • 1/4 tsp pepper
  • 1/4 c fresh parsley, chopped OR 1/8 c dried parsley
  • 4 c whole tomatoes, canned
  • 2 cans tomato paste (6oz)
  • 15 oz ricotta cheese
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 lb mozzarella, grated
  • 3/4 c parmesan, grated
  • 1 pkg noodles

Preparation

Step 1

1) cook noodles w/ 1 tbs salt 25 minutes, drain, rinse
separate noodles immediately, lay on paper towels to dry.

2) put layer of sauce on bottom of 13x9 pan. layer noodles 4 across. should overlap some. put 1 1/2 c sauce over noodles, sprinkle 1/4 c Parmesan, 1/2 ricotta, 1/3 mozzarella. repeat until all are used up. should have 3 layers of noodles.

3) bake, covered 25 minutes at 375; uncover, bake 20-25 minutes more. let stand 10 minutes.
