BASIC BREAD AND BUTTER PICKLES 0 Picture

Ingredients

  • Directions:
  • 4 quarts medium cucumbers, sliced
  • 6 medium white onions, sliced
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 1/3 cup salt
  • 5 cups sugar
  • 3 cups cider vinegar
  • 1 ½ teaspoons turmeric
  • 1 ½ teaspoons celery salt
  • 2 teaspoons mustard seed
  • ● Slice cucumbers thin, but do not peel; add onions, whole garlic cloves, and salt.
  • ● Mix well and cover with cracked ice; let stand for 3 hours; drain well.
  • ● Combine remaining ingredients and bring to a boil; pour over cucumbers.

● Heat to just a boil; spoon into sterilized jars and seal.
