Old-Fashioned Sugar Cookies

Yield: 2 1/2 dozen cookies

In addition to the contents of the jar, you will need to add the following ingredients:

1 cup butter, softened
2 eggs
1 teas vanilla extract
1/2 teas lemon extract

Old-Fashioned Sugar Cookies

In a large bowl, cream the butter, eggs, and vanilla and lemon extracts. Add the contents of the jar, and stir until well mixed. Chill the dough for 2 hours. Preheat the oven to 350. On a lightly floured surface, roll the dough to 1/4 inch thickness. Cut into desired shapes with cookie cutters and place on an ungreased baking sheet, spacing the cookies about 2inches apart. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes, or until the edges begin to brown. Allow to cool for 2 minutes on the baking sheet. Then transfer to wire racks and cool completely. Serve immediately, or store in an airtight container for up to2 weeks.

  • 1 teas baking powder
  • 3 cups all purpose flour

2. Layer the ingredients in the jar. Make the layers as level as possible.
