Granola bars

These are a quick and easy snack, despite all of the ingredients. Well worth your time.

Ingredients
- 6 cups oats
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1/4 cup veg oil
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup molasses
- 1/4 cup honey
- 1/4 cup maple syrup
- 1/4 cup apple juice
- 1 tsp salt
- 3 tsp vanilla
- 1 cup coconut
- 1/2 cup dried apple slices
- 1 cup nuts, any mix, suggested sunflower, almond, walnut, pecan
- 1/2 cup sesame seeds
- 1 cup wheat germ
- 1/2 cup flax seed
- 1-1/2 cup rice Krispie
- Chocolate chips, opt

Step 1
Melt butter. Add oil. Add to the oatmeal and put onto two cookie sheets and heat till toasty, 20-25 minutes @350*. Meanwhile heat the sugars and the salt just to boiling and remove from heat add the vanilla. In a large bowl add the nuts and the rest of the dry ingredients, then add the toasted oats. Toss to combine, then pour on the hot syrup. Mix well. Cover a cookie sheet with reynolds wrap and spray or butter it. Then add the granola mixture. Put one cookie sheet on top of the other and press really hard to compact the mixture. Now put it into the oven @ 325* for 25 minutes. If you choose to cover with the chocolate put the chips on now and shut into the oven for a few minutes. Remove and spread with spatula. Now cool completely. Cut into bars and wrap in plastic wrap to store.
