Ingredients

  • Cream together:
  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 1 cup sugar
  • Add in:
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • Combine dry ingredients and mix well with above ingredients:
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • Add:
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • Mix well and fold in:
  • 2 cups peeled and chopped apples (I use Fuji) – about 2 apples
  • Topping:
  • 2 Tbs butter
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional, walnuts or pecans)
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon

Preparation

Step 1

Pour batter into 9 x 13 ungreased pan. Sprinkle topping over batter. Put into freezer (at least 24 hours so it is frozen solid)

To bake:
Put frozen cake in cold oven. Set oven at 350. Bake uncovered for 1 hour. DO NOT PREHEAT OVEN!
