Ingredients

  • 2 cups cream, scalded
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 3 tablespoons flour
  • 3 egg yolks, slightly beaten
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 3 egg whites
  • 3 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 cup chocolate chips
  • 1 pie shell

Preparation

Step 1

Scald cream. Mix sugar, cornstarch and flour. Add to cream. Cook until thick and smooth stirring occasionally.

Mix a little of cream mixture into yolks. Then add to cream mixture. Cook 2 minutes until eggs are cooked. Add butter, salt and vanilla and mix well. Cool slightly and add chips. Mix gently. Pour into 9 inch pie shell. After cooled add topping by whipping egg whites, 3 tbsp sugar, into meringue into 9 inch pie shell.
