Mama Tip's White Cake

Ingredients

• 3/4 cups Crisco
• 2 cups sugar
• 2 cups flour
• 2 tsp baking powder
• 11/2 tsp orange flavoring
• 1/4 tsp almond extract
• 11/4 tsp lemon extract
• 1/8 tsp salt
• 1/8 tsp cream of tartar
• 1 cup milk
• 4 egg whites (beat stiff to peak)

Preparation

Step 1

Preheat oven to 350º

Cream Crisco and sugar
Sift flour, baking powder and salt
Beat egg whites into stiff peaks
Fold egg whites into creamed crisco and sugar while alternating with sifted flour mix and milk. Add the three extracts.

Pour into two square or circle greased and floured pans
Bake 40 minutes
