Ingredients

  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup light corn syrup
  • 1/2 tea. salt
  • 3 cups salted mixed nuts
  • 1 Tbsp. butter
  • 2 tea. baking soda
  • 2 tea. vanilla
  • 1 ta. Tabasco
  • 1 tea. pepper
  • 1/4 tea. crushed red pepper flakes

Step 1

Coat large baking sheet with cooking spray.

Combine the sugar, water and corn syrup in a medium saucepan over medium-high heat. Bring the mixture to a boil and cook until the sugar has dissolved and temperature has reached 270 degrees on a candy thermometer, about 15 minutes.

Stir in the salt and nuts and cook, stirring, until the temperature reaches 300 degrees, 5-6 minutes longer.

Remove pan from the heat and stir in the butter, baking soda, vanilla, tabasco, black pepper and red pepper flakes.

Pour onto the baking sheet and spread with a spatula into as thin a layer as possible.

Cool completely.
