This recipe is a basic chocolate cupcake recipe I found in my food network magazine. I made these with the chocolate frosting recipe also in the magazine. These cupcake were Yummy and easy to make. I will defiantly be making these again.

  • 1 cup of flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup of milk
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 3/4 vegetable oil
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

1. Preheat oven to 350* and line 12-cup muffin pan with paper liners.

2. Whisk one cup of flour and 1/2 teaspoon each baking soda and salt in a bowl.

3. Heat 3/4 cup of milk until hot but not boiling; pour over 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder in a large bowl and whisk until smooth. let cool slightly.

4. Whisk in 1 cup of sugar, 3/4 cup vegetable oil, one egg and 1 teaspoon vanilla until smooth.

5. Whisk in flour mixture until just combined.

6. Divide batter among the muffin cups. Bake until top springs back 20 to 25 minutes. Transfer to a rack and let cool 5 minutes in the pan, then remove the cupcakes to the rack to cool completely.

7. Make your frosting, then pipe or spread on the cup cakes.
