Ingredients
- 1 cup flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/3 cup sugar plus two tablespoons
- 2 teaspoons vanilla
- 3/4 cup butter, softened
- 1 egg
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 quart strawberries, green tops removed, sliced and sweetened
- Whipped topping

Preparation
Step 1
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
In large bowl, mix together flour, salt, baking powder. and 1/3
cup sugar. Add vanilla and butter and mix well.
In separate bowl, beat egg and 1/3 cup sugar. Beat about 2 minutes until light and fluffy. Add the butter and vanilla and mix on medium high another 4-5 minutes. On low speed add half of the flour mixture and half the milk. Then add the rest until incorporated. Do not beat more than is needed.
Pour into baking dish.
Sprinkle top with 2 teaspoons sugar. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes until golden brown.
Set aside to cool.
Cut and serve, topping each piece with strawberries and whipped topping.
