Ingredients

  • Syrup:
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 cup honey
  • 1/2 orange, sliced
  • 2 whole dried cloves
  • 1 cup water
  • Cake:
  • 2 cups biscuit mix
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp each cinnamon, cloves and nutmeg
  • 2 tbs finely minced orange peel
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 cup oil
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts

Preparation

Step 1

1. In small pot combine syrup ingredients bring to boiling. Reduce heat; simmer 10 min. Cool completely. Remove orange slices and cloves.

2. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Coat 9x13 inch baking pan with non stick cooking spray. Combine all dry ingredients in large bowl, stir gently.

3. With mixer on low speed, add eggs one at a time. Add milk and oil; mix until smooth. Fold in nuts.

4. Pour into baking pan. Bake 25 to 30 min.

5. Remove from oven and drizzle syrup over cake; let cool before cutting into squares
