Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 Tablespoon milk
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 3/4 cups flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/2 cups quick oats
  • 1 1/2 cups butterscotch chips (11 oz.)
  • For the Chocolate Frosting
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/4 cup dark cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup whipping cream

Step 1

Beat the butter, shortening, and sugars until creamy. Add the vanilla, milk, and eggs and beat again.
Stir together the flour, salt, and oats. Slowly beat into the creamed mixture. Stir in the butterscotch chips. Spread in a greased 9x13 pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 minutes. Do not over bake. Let cool completely.
Beat together the frosting ingredients until creamy. Spread over the top of the cooled bars. Cut into 24 bars. Store in a sealed container.

Yield: 24 bars
