4-5 tart apples, peeled, cored & cut into 6 equal pieces
1&3/4 sticks butter
3/4 c. sugar
Cake:
1 stick butter
2/3 c. sugar
1&1/2 tsp. vanilla
2 large eggs
1/2 c. sour cream
1&1/2 c. c. all-purpose flour
1&1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1 small apple, peeled, cored & chopped finely

Step 1
Filling:
Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Melt butter in skillet, over low heat. Add sugar & stir around, then place apple slices, wedge side down, in pan.
Cake:
In mixing bowl, cream together butter & sugar. Add vanilla & eggs;mix well. Add sour cream & mix well. In separate bowl, sift together flour, baking powder, salt & cinnamon. Gradually add flour mixture to batter until just combined. Gently stir in chopped apple. Carefully spoon mixture into baking dish. Spoon batter over top, then spread gently so batter is evenly distributed. Bake @ 375 degrees for 25-30 min. or until cake is golden brown & bubbly. Allow cake to sit for 5 min. & then turn onto serving plate. Serve immediately.
