Instructions
In a small bowl, stir together the granulated sugar and the cinnamon until evenly combined. In a bowl large enough to hold all the ingredients (including the bread), whisk together the eggs and the brown sugar. Stir in the granulated sugar mixture and whisk until well combined.
Slowly whisk the heavy cream, milk, and vanilla into the egg mixture. Add the cubed bread and stir gently until all the bread is coated with the liquid. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for 12 to 24 hours. Stir once or twice during this time to make sure the liquid is saturating all the bread.
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Butter the bottom and sides of a 9- by 12-inch baking pan. Pour the mixture into the baking dish and bake until dark golden brown on top, about one hour. (Alternatively, for individual servings, cook the bread pudding in buttered muffin tins.) Serve the bread pudding warm with a dollop of crème frache, whipped cream, or a drizzle of warmed maple syrup.
