  • 4 bacon slices, chopped
  • 2 cups (packed) shredded & peeled russet potatoes
  • 2 tablespoons (1/4 stick) butter
  • 1/2 cup grated Gruyère cheese (about 2 ounces)

Step 1

Cook bacon in large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat until crisp, about 8 min. Using slotted spoon, transfer bacon to large bowl (reserve droppings in skillet). Add potatoes to bacon; toss to combine. Sprinkle with salt and pepper.
Preheat broiler. Melt butter in same skillet with bacon drippings over medium heat. Form potatoe mixture into four 4-inch-diameter patties. Add patties to skillet. Cook until golden brown and cooked through, about 6 min. per side. Transfer patties to baking sheet. Sprinkle cheese atop each. Broil patties until cheese melts, about 1 minute.
