Ingredients
- 1 onion, diced
- 1 green pepper, seeded and diced
- 3-4 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 Tbsp chili powder
- 1 tsp ground cumin
- 2 tsp unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon, optional
- Cayenne powder to taste, or hot sauce, if desired
- 28oz can diced fire roasted tomatoes, undrained
- 15 oz can black beans, drained and rinsed
- 15 oz can kidney beans, drained and rinsed
- 1 sweet potato, diced
- 1 avocado, diced

Step 1
1. In a 4-6 quart slow cooker, combine the onion, bell pepper, garlic, chili, powder, cumin, cocoa, cinnamon, 1 tsp salt, 1/2 tsp pepper, and cayenne or hot sauce. Add the tomatoes, beans, sweet potato, and 1 cu water. Cover and cook until the sweet potatoes are tender and the chili has thickened; Low for 7-8 hours or high for 4-5 hours. Serve with avocado, green onions, and tortilla chips if desired.
