Ingredients

  • ONION SAUCE:
  • 1 tablespoon canola oil
  • 2 medium onions, diced
  • 1/2 teaspoon oregano
  • 3/4 cup ketchup
  • 1/2 cup water
  • PICADILLO BASE MEAT SAUCE:
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 4 ounces tomato sauce
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon Adobo seasoning
  • 1/2 packet seasoning
  • Hot Dog Buns
  • Hot Dogs, boiled
  • TOPPINGS:
  • Sauerkraut
  • Ketchup
  • Mustard
  • Shoestring potatoes
  • Cheese Whiz

Preparation

Step 1

Picadillo Base Meat Sauce:

Brown ground beef in hot skillet. Add tomato sauce, adobo seasoning and Sazon seasoning. Stir well. Set aside.

Onion Sauce:

Heat large skillet to medium-high. Pour in oil. Add and mix onions and oregano. Saute about 2 minutes until onions are translucent. Stir in ketchup and water. Lower heat to medium-low. Cover and cook until onions are soft. Add more water is needed if it looks a little dry. Simmer for about 10 minutes. Set aside.

Assemble Hot Dog:

Place 1 boiled hot dog in each hot dog bun. Add Picadillo Base Meat Sauce and top with onion sauce.

Add in layers: sauterKraut, ketchup, mustard, shoestring potatoes and top with Cheese Whiz
