Ingredients

  • 3 pounds ground beef
  • 2 large eggs, lightly beaten
  • 1 cup tomato sauce
  • 1 cup onion, sliced and then carmelized
  • 1 1/2 cups bread crumbs
  • 1 1/2 cups beef stock
  • 2 tablespoons Kosher salt
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup ketchup

Preparation

Step 1

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

In a large bowl, mix the beef,eggs, tomato sauce, onions, breadcrumbs, beef stock and salt until well incorporated. Divide the mixture into four parts. Spread 1/4 of the mixture n the bottom of a 9 by 5 inch loaf pan. Place another 1/4 of the meat mixture in the bottom of a second loaf pan. Spread 1 cup of the cheddar cheese on top of each loaf. Top each loaf with the remaining 1/4 of the meat mixture. Spread 1/4 cup of ketchup on top of each loaf.

Bake in preheated 350 degree oven for 50 minutes to 1 hour. Remove loaves from the oven before the top of the loaves become completely caramelized.
