Ingredients

  • 2 pkg yeast
  • 1/2 c tepid water
  • 2 T shortening
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 4 T sugar
  • 2 c hot milk
  • 6 c flour
  • Grease any and all pans.

Preparation

Step 1

In small and bowl combine yeast and water, set aside.

In large bowl combine shortening, salt, sugar, milk stir with wooden spoon. Add 2 cups flour, then yeast mixture. Continue to stir. Add more cups of flour.

Spread remaining 2 cups of flour on flat surface. Knead dough for 8-10 minutes, kneading in flour.

Put back into bowl and let rise for 1+1/2 hours (until double in size). Punch down.

Rolls: Shape into buns and let rise for 1/2 hour in pan. Bake at 350 degrees.

Cinnamon Rolls: Roll out dough and butter. Sprinkle with brown sugar and cinnamon. Roll up and slice. Let rise 1/2 hour in baking dish.

Fry Bread: Roll out dough until 1/2 inch thick, cut into slices. Rise 1/2 hour. Fry in electric skillet (350-375 degrees).
