  • 1 3/4 cup of flour
  • 3 teaspoons baking powder
  • 3/4 teaspoon of salt
  • 1/2 shortening
  • 1 cup of sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
  • 3/4 cup of milk
  • 2 apples
  • 1/4 cup of sugar
  • 1 teaspoon of cinnamon

Preparation

Step 1

1. Mix flour, baking powder and salt.
2. Cream shortening and gradually add the sugar, beating well after each addition.
3. Add egg and vanilla and keep beating until well mixed.
4. Incorporate the dry ingredients alternating with the milk.
5. Pour in a deep greased mold.
6. Peel and slice apples, and place on top of the cake.
7. Sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon.
8. Bake at 350 from 50-60 minutes.
9. Serve warm with lemon sauce.
