  • 1/4 cup of butter
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 3 apples
  • 1/4 cup of butter
  • 1/3 cup of sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup of molasses
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/8 teaspoon of salt
  • 1 teaspoon of ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon
  • 1/3 cup of boiling water

Preparation

Step 1

1. Melt half of the butter in a baking pan. Sprinkle with brown sugar and melt together.
2. Pare, core and slice apples and arrange as a ring in pan with mixture.
3. Cream remaining butter and sugar. Add well-beaten eggs and molasses.
4. Beat thoroughly and then add sifted dry ingredients and mix well.
5. Lastly add boiling water and pour over apples.
6. Bake for 40 minutes at 325.
