Ingredients
- Icing:
- 3 eggs separated
- 2/3 cup of soft butter
- 3/4 cup of sugar
- 5 chocolate squares (semisweet) melted
- 2/3 cup of flour
- 1/4 cup of milk
- 1/2 cup of crushed almonds
- 1/2 teaspoon of almond extract
- 5 semisweet chocolate squares
- 1/4 cup of butter
- 3 tablespoons of milk
- 1 cup of icing sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon of almond extract
- Garnish: 1/2 cup of sliced roasted almonds

Preparation
Step 1
1. Beat the whites in stiff peaks.
2. Beat the butter and incorporate slowly the sugar. Add the yolks and melted chocolate.
3. Add the flour alternatively with the milk and mix well.
4. Add the almonds and the almond extract.
5. Fold in the whites and pour in a greased cake pan (9 inch).
6. Bake at 350 35-40 minutes or until a tooth pick comes out clean.
7. Cook 10 minutes before taking the sides off and cool completely before icing.
8. For the icing, melt the chocolate with the butter.
9. Slowly add whipping the icing sugar and the almond extract.
10. Spread on the cake and decorate the sides with the slices almonds.
